Manchester United manager, Louis van Gaal, has admitted that he could be facing “the end of the world” and end up in the labour market like Jose Mourinho, if results don’t improve.

The Red Devils have not won in their last five matches and Van Gaal welcomes Norwich City to Old Trafford on Saturday needing a win.

Speaking about Mourinho’s sack, the Dutchman says it was a “big surprise” to see him go, but stated that he could face similar fate.

“I know that, the players know that, my staff know that,” Van Gaal said.

“We have to win, because, if you lose, also for me, it’s the end of the world.

“We know that in advance [if results are poor, managers are vulnerable]. Jose also knows that, but it’s this world.

“What can I say? It was a big surprise for me, I didn’t expect it.

“He’s a fantastic manager with a record that nobody has in this football world, but it is still possible to be sacked.

“I have said this, last week or the week before, the main thing is always first, the results, and second, the chemistry between players, manager and his staff.

“I cannot judge what was happening in Chelsea, but I was very surprised to see Mourinho sacked.”

Pilot phase of e-learning website launched for people who have the ambition to become a technician in Nigeria, Mozambique and DR Congo
Caterpillar today announced that it has launched the pilot-phase of the Technicians for Africa Project, an e-learning website for people who aspire to become a technician in Nigeria, Mozambique and DR Congo.
Technicians for Africa is an absolutely free online program for Africans seeking a new and exciting career as a service technician. Technicians for Africa is sponsored by Caterpillar, the global leader in construction and mining equipment. In just 3-6 months you can achieve Foundational Certification and begin an exciting journey towards a possible career as a well paid and highly valued service technician in the automotive, trucking or heavy equipment industry.
The website, which is available in French, Portuguese and English, is leveraging Caterpillar’s existing, state of the art e-learning solutions and makes them available for anyone in the three countries that has the ambition to develop a career as a heavy equipment Technician.
“This is just one of the ways that we’re looking to boost the skills in the industry as a whole. There is a vital need for skilled labour across these sectors in Africa. We are proud to see the launch of this initiative,” said David Picard, Region Manager responsible for Caterpillar’s distribution in Africa.
The pilot websites in English, French and Portuguese have already been launched and during the pilot stage they will be available in Nigeria, DR Congo and Mozambique. The access to the basic Caterpillar Technician curriculum is free. Those who register for the curriculum will have the opportunity to upgrade their knowledge and upon successful completion of the curriculum, will earn a certificate of completion.
“Many School leavers are unable to enter the job market because they have been unable to receive enough technical knowledge when they leave school. In schools, the latest technical information isn’t always available,” explained Maurice Manders, Caterpillar’s Learning and Development Manager and also team leader of the e-learning project. “Offering an Internet-based basic learning curriculum that is available to schools and students is an efficient solution to this challenge,” he added.
The new free e-learning curriculum, which contains 18 modules of easy-to-understand, technical insights about safety and basic fundamental systems like electrical, hydraulics and powertrain, complements the paid-for e-learning platforms that are available to Caterpillar’s dealers and customers. Paying customers get access to a wider range of e-learning and more functionality of the learning management system.

The worship center according to Business Insider will be built where Berlin’s first church once stood, 800 years ago, and is meant to reflect Berlin’s multiculturalism and diversity.

U.N. Security Council members unanimously approved a U.N. resolution Friday endorsing a peace process for Syria including a cease-fire and talks between the Damascus government and the opposition, but the draft makes no mention of the most contentious issue — the future role of Syrian President Bashar Assad.

The resolution makes clear that the blueprint it endorses will not end the conflict, deep into its fifth year with well over 300,000 killed, because "terrorist groups," including the Islamic State group and the al-Qaida-linked al-Nusra Front, are not part of the cease-fire.

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry praised "the unprecedented degree of unity" in the council, which has been stymied in the past over a political solution in Syria, and called the resolution "a milestone."
Foreign ministers from 17 countries met for more than five hours on how to implement their call in Vienna last month for a cease-fire and the start of negotiations between the government and opposition in early January. At the same time, diplomats worked to overcome divisions on the text of the resolution.
The resulting agreement "gives the Syrian people a real choice, not between Assad and Daesh, but between war and peace," Kerry said, using the Arabic acronym for the Islamic State extremists.
"We're under no illusions about the obstacles that exist ... especially about the future of President Assad" where "sharp differences" remain, Kerry said.
He made clear that Assad must go if there is to be peace in Syria, saying that "Assad has lost the ability ... to unite the country."

But Kerry later told reporters that the United States and the opposition had eventually realized that demanding Assad's departure up front in the process was "in fact, prolonging the war."
Kerry, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and U.N. special envoy Staffan de Mistura made clear that the previously envisioned Jan. 1 start to peace talks was unlikely. De Mistura said invitations to the talks will go out in January, at least.

Kerry said a start to the talks in the middle or end of the month would be more reasonable. "In January, we expect to be at the table and implement a full cease-fire," he said.
Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon told the council that Syria was "in ruins," singling out besieged areas where "thousands of people have been forced to live on grass and weeds," which he called "outrageous."
"This marks a very important step on which we must build," Ban said of Friday's resolution.

Three staff of online retail outlet, Konga today appeared before a Yaba Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos, for allegedly stealing 500 units of Infinix Hot2 mobile phone valued at N9.6 million, according to a report by Vanguard.

The men; Ibrahim Maradesa, Oluwatoyin Salau and Jerry Idenudia are standing trial on a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.

The Prosecutor, Inspector Roman Unuigbe, told the court that the accused committed the offence on Nov. 4, at about 6:00p.m. They allegedly stole 500 units of Infinix Hot2 16 GB12 valued at N9.6 million, which happens to be the property of Konga online retailer.

According to him, the accused, who are drivers with the company, diverted a truck loaded with the items to an undisclosed destination. The accused men pleaded not guilty to the charge. The Magistrate, Mr P.A. Ojo, then admitted them to bail of N500, 000 each, with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case till Feb. 17, 2016 for substantive trial.

They say, "whatever doesn’t kill you makes you stronger." That is quite true (in a way sha).

Although i believe that: being stronger or weaker at the end of the (virtually) deathly experience depends on how, when and where you received the blow that woulda killed you (spiritually, physically or emotionally).

BECAUSE, truly, many people get weak(er) after certain 'killer' or 'fatal' experiences.

I recently saw a photo (the one above) of ’THE JOKER'- the villainous character in the movie, 'THE DARK KNIGHT'. He thinks: "whatever doesn’t kill you simply makes you stranger."

Now i know, i know…..he's the bad guy!!!! but I AGREE with him and i think that that statement applies to humans (including you reading this - unless you are an alien).

*lemme prove it*

Some synonyms of the word: ‘STRANGE’ include:

Not normal, odd, unusual, unfamiliar, bizzare, old, singular, weird, fremd, new, unknown.

Basically, the word, 'Strange’ revolves around one thing- ‘CHANGE'.

IN OTHER WORDS:

"whatever doesn't kill you will simply change you".

CHANGE is a normal process, an adaptive response to stress or trauma. PATHOLOGY teaches that: when a cell is faced with an injury, stress or insult, it does either of two things: ADAPT or DIE.

NOW some people be like: "oh, you have changed...ah, you have changed."

*i get that too*.

But they fail to sit back and ask themselves: "what caused this change?" They rather rush into condemning that change. In most cases, when people change, it is an adaptive process to a blow/ trauma/ insult they received.

So before you think of condeming the change you see in a human, know that that change you see is most likely as a result of what that person who you think has changed has passed through- something that (almost) did some killing (spiritually, physically or emotionally).

9 Steps To Memorize Quickly and not Forget. While most people are strongly against cramming, it is sometimes necessary. While concepts should be studied and understood, sometimes you have to memorize facts, figures and formulas, and that is where the ability to memorize quickly and not forget comes in. The problem is that recalling something requires learning, and we all learn in different ways. Below are some universal steps to mastering the art of recalling so that you can start memorizing a ton of data in a short amount of time.

1. Prepare your Mind

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED: List of Scholarships For Nigerian Undergraduate and Postgraduate Students In 2015/2016

First of you have to remove anything that can clutter your mind, free yourself of worries. Do not begin with liquor or anything that will impair your mind. Choose a place conducive to memorizing, usually a quiet place away from distractions and noise. There are also foods or drinks that help make the mind sharper, you can imbibe such. However, do so sparingly.

2. Recording

Most people especially auditory learners (this are people that learn and retain faster what they hear thanothers), can take advantage of a recorder either using your smartphone or some other recording device to make a record of what you want to memorize. listening to yourself speaking will help you retain and remember better.

3. Write Everything Down

Before you start trying to recall everything from memory, write and re-write the information. This will help you become more familiar with what you’re trying to memorize. Doing this while listening to your tape recorder can also help you retain a lot of the data. This is most useful for experiential learners (People that learn through repeated experiences).

4. Section your notes.

Now that you have everything written down in one set of notes, separate them into sections. This is ideal for visual learners(people that learn better and faster through sight) especially if you use color coding to differentiate between subjects. This will help you break everything down and start compartmentalizing the information being recorded in your brain. So use markers or highlighters of different colors. It is quite a fun way to memorize.

5. Apply Repetition

They say practice makes perfect, however, what they mean is repetition makes perfect. For each line of text, repeat it a few times and try to recall it without looking. As you memorize each set of text, be cumulative by adding the new information to what you’ve just learned. This will keep everything within your short-term memory from fading. Keep doing this until you have memorized that section and you are able to recall the entire thing. Do not move on to another section until you have memorized that one completely. If you are recording also replay over and over. Replay, rewind, replay.

6. Write it down from memory

Now that you can recall entire sections, write everything down from memory. This will reinforce everything you just have just learned by applying it experientially. You can also recite what you have been playing from memory. Don’t be discouraged if you do not get it, keep trying.

7. Teach it to someone (or yourself)

The most effective method for me when I was in school was to teach the information to someone else. You can do this in a variety of ways. You can lecture the knowledge to someone sitting right in front of you (or the mirror, if you can’t convince anyone to sit through it) and explain everything extemporaneously. Explaining to someone, engraves the information better in your subconscious and will make it far difficult to forget.

8. Listen to the recordings Always

While doing unrelated tasks like laundry or driving, go over the information again by listening to your tape recordings. This is certainly auditory learning, but it will still supplement everything you’ve shoved into your short-term memory. Even before you go to sleep, you can plug in headphones and continue listening, it is almost the same way we memorize songs.

9. Take a break

Finally, let your mind breathe. Go for a short time without thinking about what you just learned and come back to it later on. You’ll find out what you really know, of course, and this will help you focus on the sections you might be weakest at.

Some tips were gotten from lifehack.

Before I dive into the matter, It is no longer news that Nigeria has decided. For the first time in the history of Nigeria, and incumbent president lost to the opposition. Clearly, this marked the beginning of a new dawn in Nigeria. Nigerians decided that General Muhammadu Buhari is the needed change.  This entire episode demonstrates that the difference between history’s boldest accomplishments, and its most staggering failures is often, simply, the diligent will to persevere.
I have noticed a striking similarity between the two leaders. Abraham Lincoln has a compelling story. Our fathers tell us his stories, our teachers drum these stories in our ears, our inspirational speakers sing these stories to us, we marvel at these stories. These stories of Mr Lincoln are told to inspire us, to get us to believe in the pursuit of our dreams and aspirations. Mr Lincoln was indeed a flying ninja great man. He is a great illustration of the power of perseverance, as he had terrible and persistent heartache and defeat throughout this life, yet made history and changed the course of America. In business, Lincoln failed twice, as a politician he lost eight elections and he suffered a nervous breakdown, bedridden for six months, as fears, doubts and uncertainties lived within his soul.
1831 he failed in business.
In 1832 he ran for state legislature – lost.
In 1838 he sought to become speaker of the state legislature – defeated.
In 1843 he ran for Congress – lost.
In 1854 he ran for Senate of the United States – lost.
In 1856 he sought the Vice-Presidential nomination at his party’s national convention – got less than 100 votes.
In 1860 he was elected the 16th President of the United States.
As President, not only did Lincoln write and issue the Emancipation Proclamation that restricted slavery, but as the Civil War was ending in 1865, he initiated the 13th Amendment to the Constitution, outlawing U.S. slavery forever. But what Lincoln achieved could not have happened had it not been for his perseverance and his heartache and defeats, which he harnessed very effectively in ways that touch our lives today.  He could have quit many times – but he didn’t and because he didn’t quit, he became one of the greatest presidents in the history of America.
Now back to our own story. General Muhammadu Buhari’s victory at the polls is somewhat a reward for perseverance. He has been consistent in pursuing his political aspiration. He remained very consistent, resilient and courageous right from 2003 till date.
Beyond Abraham Lincoln, this is our story to tell our children, our colleagues, students, when teaching persistence. A deep story of a man who was once ridiculed and laughed at every time he lost an election; lost 3 times over a 12 year period, but refused to give up. He could have quit many times – but he did not and because he didn’t quit, he got victory at the March 28, 2015 polls, heralding a fresh season of leadership in Nigeria.
Perseverance is often the difference between those that succeed and those that do not. You can’t touch the light at the end of the tunnel. It’s too far away and the road is too long.  You must travel the entire road, picking up valuable lessons along the way. The journey itself is as rewarding as the achievement of success, and the right journey will transform that success into a lasting legacy.
Perseverance is about picking yourself up every time you fall down. It’s about starting a new business with the attitude that failure is simply not an option. You must succeed. It’s about making the big presentation, acing it, not getting the account, and then trying even harder the next time around. It’s about making a plan and sticking to it. It’s about joining a group or organization, and then participating constantly. It’s about networking, and constantly trying to connect other people without regard to their referrals back to you. It’s about trying new things, failing, and then trying different new things. It’s about always bearing in mind that your own resolution to succeed is more important than any other. Just as Richard Nixon once wrote, “A man is not finished when he is defeated. He is finished when he quits. ”

I shared this thought with a friend last night and he laughed over it, responding, "I GATS dey with God nah."
I however know very well that so many fellows will deny this truth, but I will share it anyway.

Religion is Like Politics. Many People are on the Lord's Side, not really because they Love him per se, not because they gonna die for Him. These folks are on His side simply because His side is the WINNING party SIDE.

These are things I’ll tell my sister when she turns sixteen, there might be some changes tho, I don’t know. I just feel like young girls make a lot of decisions during that age based on all the wrong information. These are things I’ll probably tell any sixteen-year-old I care about

image
1. No, things are not messed. Your head’s just in the wrong places.
2. You are not weird. Everybody is. You’re normal. But by now you know, Normal is overrated.
3. The world is larger than boys
4. You have only just began, slow down, gather strength.
5. Ask mom about stuff, not your bestie.

You Have A Smart Phone Stop Doing Stupid Ish With It

 by

You have a smart phone stop doing stupid ish with it, basically means that you have a smart phone so stop doing ish with it! Lot of people use their ultra cool blackberrys, iphones and Android phones to send senseless messages and texts all day long. While there is nothing wrong with having a little fun with your phone, what is wrong is making that the primary purpose of your device. Your device is way too powerful for stuff like “if you don’t send this to 7 people your blank will blank” or “Forward this to all your friends for a free blank-pad.” Your smart phones are smarter better than that and should be used for smart things, like creating draft entries to that blog post that you have always been meaning to write, tracking your business appointments and activities, computing business expenses or responding to emails from those important clients and lots more. Whatever you decide to do, just remember that you have a smart phone so stop doing stupid ish with ith it!
