What are small business ideas for students? Are you a college student, high school or undergraduate thinking of starting a small business but have no idea? Do you needprofitable small business ideas that you can start with little or no money as a student?

If your answer is YES then I advice you continue reading…….As a student, there are many things to spend money on. You will buy and pay for typing and photocopying of lecture notes, hand outs, excursions, field trips, and research projects, practical, school fees and even accommodation. Meanwhile, most parents are not buoyant enough to cater for all these things.

Again, everywhere around the world today, there is massive unemployment of the graduates. There are fewer government safety nets. This is fact and the reality of the economic situations right now everywhere. It is now imperative that being self employed while still in college or university is the only solution to unemployment after school graduation.

Now is the right time for you as a college student, high school or undergraduate to start a small business. In fact, I almost consider it a must that student should launch a small business. As a student, you need to be prepared to find ways to supplement what your parent gives you as your school monthly allowances. I strongly believe that doing small business while still in college will not prevent you from achieving academic success. You can still achieve greater academic excellence and career accomplishments and live comfortably in life; all that you just need is to take the right step and make the right moves.

Starting a small business while still in college or partnering with other students to launch one prepares you for success. I have below 20 small business ideas you can start with little or no money as a college student, high school or undergraduate student. Choose from these small business ideas to start a business in your school or brainstorm for one. Some of these small business ideas may work better than others, or may not even work at all for you, depending on the nature of your school. So while choosing, choose with wisdom and adjust yourself quickly if the business is not growing as fast as it should be.

20+ Small Business Ideas for students

1. Offer Photographic and videoing services

One of the small businesses a student can start while in still college is photographic and videoing services. As a student, you can be hired to cover events in which you take pictures or video of the event both within and outside campuses. You can be covering events such as school shows, parties and birth parties, wedding ceremonies, other events and feast while still in college. This business is highly lucrative and it requires little capital start-up.

You can become a knitter. Starting beads knitting business is very easy and simple. You don’t need to be expert knitters to even try beads knitting. Beads knitting will require no money for starting and making beads is something you can do at your convenient time. So, this type of small business is more appropriate for student especially female students though male students can also be a knitter. Beads making is something you can put into anything. I have seen people who started in a small scale in beads making but later grow into having a full blown beads knit store.

3. Consider Pet sitting business

If you are the type of student that likes pets, you can turn your passion for pets into a rewarding business. You can grow in this pet sitting business if you love animals and the desire the opportunity to be one’s own boss and leave the corporate world. So, it is a type small business that you can grow in, make money and continued even after you graduate from school.

This will not in any way affect your academic performance because this is business that you will be doing at your leisure time.

5. Start liquid soap and bleach production

As a student, you can start liquid soap and bleach production in small scale; if you are grounded in chemistry. All you need is to apply your knowledge of chemistry. This does not require much expertise but your basic knowledge of chemistry. At the onset, the liquid soap and bleach you produced should be sold to students and restaurants until you become an expert, register your business to appropriate commission and acquire all necessary production permits to sell to the general public.

6. Start a mini computer business centre

A mini business centre is another business any student can start. You can start the business with a desktop or laptop, 1 in 3 HP printers for printing, photocopying and scanning, a chair and table. The start up cost for this business will be $200 or less. You can grow from there into large scale business centre or a computer business centre with cybercafé. This is a type of business every student will enjoy doing because it does not require a special skill or knowledge for one to start it.

7. Cake baking and snacks production is a good idea

When I was an undergraduate student, I witness my fellow female colleagues doing this type of business. They bake cakes and sell to those cerebrating their birth day, wedding ceremonies, those doing parties, marriage anniversaries and many other occasions. Sometimes, they are hired to prepare snacks for a particular event or the other. Today, most of these female colleagues of mine are professional caterer. So, you too as a female student still in the college can start your own cake baking and snacks production business. You don’t need to go to school to learn how to bake cake or produce snack. Meet any person whom you know that can bake cake to give you floor measurements, sugar and egg quantity to be use and other minor ingredients need for baking cakes and in making snacks.

• Studying your moves.
• Not stopping when you mess up.
• Always trying to be funny.
• Not rushing words.
• Staring at or thinking of something to make you less nervous.

You can prepare your tutorial in audio record form or e-book and ask them to subscribe for it. This is one type of business I enjoyed most while still in school. One good thing about this type business is that it requires no money for its start-up and you can just start with one person and then you expand.

11. Become a delivery Agent

There are some well established businesses within or around you school or campus, link up with them, and boost their business by introducing their products to other students in your college. You receive monthly commission for this. Sometime, if any student paid for a product online or without taking the goods or product back to school, you will be call to help deliver the product to the student. Each service you render goes with some stipulated commission.

12. Start research project and data analysis service

If you have knowledge of research work or you’ve done one before and have the ability to analyses statistical data, you can start this type of business. This business requires expertise but it is highly lucrative. Don’t go into this business if you are not grounded in research work and statistical analysis.

13. Start Career counseling

In most colleges and high schools, we have guardians and counselors but they do not do their job. So, take the advantage to fill this gap in your school. 22. Consider Mobile boutique

Many students like fashion and style and if you are the fashion type; consider starting a mobile boutique. Sell to your classmate and make your money. Other small business ideas for students include;

• Book keeping service
• Providing Holiday traveller’s service
• Student Games centre
• Developing mobile applications

All the above listed small business ideas are potential sources of generating income for yourself. You can start any of these small ideas and become successful on them or brainstorm for one. So, this is the right time to start. No need to wait again. Starting doing something valuable now or never!

Why wait for the future? Below are 5 things you can do now to improve your worth:

Start your personal website or blog –these days, owning a blog is simple as ABC. With your device, all you need is an app – WordPress, Blogger, Tumblr, Instagram, etc., and you’re up and running. Find out something that interests you and start writing about it regularly – daily, weekly or monthly. Owning a website is not much more difficult. , once you get a domain name registered, it’s all set. Owning a functional blog or website boosts your profile, even when it’s time to look for a job.

Read something new every day – one excuse most students give for not reading is that they don’t like holding books or can’t find books. With your device, you can just hit Google and quickly read up something – Google has something about almost everything. Just give yourself 5 minutes to surf the web for learning purposes, it could be something related to your profession/job/studies (like an Engineering magazine for an Engineering student) or just some random idea. You’ll learn a lot.

Bookmark relevant websites – when you find random but useful materials online, the best thing is to immediately bookmark it. This may not be useful right away, but will eventually come in handy. You could call it an online library. Also, when you find useful text/article, you can simply email it to yourself and read it later.

Build a professional profile online and offline – in this internet age, your visibility online determines your prospects a lot. So use services like LinkedIn and About.me to create a professional resume. You should type up a CV (and passport, scanned/photographed certificates) and store on your mobile for easy access when you need to apply somewhere, even if you’re not actively on the job hunt.

Volunteer, offline and online – there are a lot of causes you could start or join. For one, you could start a volunteer group dedicated to keeping your school/community clean. You could volunteer at a school, hospital etc. The good thing about this is that it gives you a kind of working experience and your psyche benefits from doing good

Linda Ikeji the billionaire blogger has confirmed that the real price of her mansion on Banana Island is not 450m. See what she tweeted below:

What do The White House, Ashley Madison and Target all have in common? They've all been hacked. Over time a data breach is almost inevitable, so here's how to respond when it happens to your business.

We are living in a golden age for technology, but as brilliant as this is for tech lovers like me, every new trend brings new security challenges and these can create a real headache for businesses of all shapes and sizes.

With reports that hackers were recently able to breach the White House’s unclassified computer network, it’s of little wonder that experts have predicted that the next world war will take place online. But how exactly do you secure your infrastructure to guard against breaches and what needs to be done.

Well publicised breaches in 2014 included eBay, JPMorgan and Staples, and in late 2013, personal data from as many as 70 million Target customerswas stolen, including payment card information, addresses and telephone numbers.

The fallout from this event was catastrophic; on top of obvious financial ramifications, Target faced a public relations nightmare with an onslaught of negative coverage and incalculable reputational damage as a result.

In a survey conducted by the Ponemon Institute, 40% of respondents said that they would not use a debit card when shopping at Target or other retailers that had experienced a breach, and 10% said that they would no longer buy from these companies at all.

With the average cost of a data breach for companies reaching $3.5 million (£2.4 million) in 2014 – a 15% rise on the previous year – this is a threat which mustn’t be taken lightly.
"The way that your company handles a breach when it does occur will mean the difference between immeasurable damage and something that can be fixed"

Hackers are using increasingly sophisticated techniques to access infrastructure with malware becoming harder to detect. One example of new ransomware, CryptoWall, has breached over 40,000 systems in the UK in recent months.

Another example of a recently discovered malware, the Dyre banking trojan, is capable of intercepting a user’s online banking login details to clear out the victim’s bank account. Attacks like these are becoming more prevalent and in the worst cases, the consequences for businesses can be catastrophic.

Of course it’s not just governments and large corporations that need to be concerned. The good news is that there are some simple things you can do as a small business to ensure security without breaking the bank. Any business no matter how large or small, could be at risk – particularly retailers and those which handle personal information.

In this case, compliance with relevant frameworks, such as Payment Card Industry (PCI) regulations, may also be necessary. It might be that you use an ecommerce platform, such as Etsy to sell your products; if this is the case, make sure that your provider is compliant before entering into an agreement.

Likewise, if you process any sensitive data off premise, via a cloud platform or external server for example, you’ll need to ensure this system has appropriate security.

If they can get to the White House, better believe they can get to you

The first thing to remember is that a breach is almost inevitable; in the Ponemon Institute survey, 65% respondents said that the attack evaded existing preventative security controls and 46% said the breach was discovered by accident.

The way that your company handles such an event when it does occur will mean the difference between immeasurable damage and something that can be fixed. Make sure you have a plan in place so that you’re ready to leap into preventative mode when you need to, and take the time to truly understand your infrastructure to recognise where your weak spots are.

If your employees use mobile devices such as smartphones or tablets, remember that these can pose a particular risk. Phishing, social engineering, and endpoint security vulnerabilities make such devices fertile ground for advanced threat penetration campaigns.

Business risk increases dramatically when devices are used both for business and pleasure, particularly if personal apps have vulnerabilities that hackers can leverage to pull business information out of a device, or to insert malware. This in effect makes the device a conduit for infecting backend network systems, so if your business uses a Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) policy, this can be a particular challenge.

According to data from Google’s Our Mobile Planet, the average mobile user downloads 25 apps on their smart phone, each with their own set of permissions. Once the device is connected to your network through the corporate VPN, all this traffic can reach out and touch your network data.

Multiply those applications by the number of users in your organisation and that’s a lot of risk, not to mention the impact both personal and business traffic has on network bandwidth. You could consider implementing a per-app VPN to enable you to choose which apps can and can’t run through your corporate access, and you could also limit the number of files that can be accessed via an app.

In a similar vein, the prospect of storing sensitive data off premise in a public cloud storage system might make you feel uncomfortable, but as a small business, you will probably find that large service providers can offer a higher level of encryption than your company can afford on its own. As with any storage system, use password protection and limit the number of people who can access the most valuable information.

When thinking about how to arm your defences, remember that a single cyber solution provides only one wall of defence to security companies, and that multiple strategies can offer stronger levels of security.

Remember security threats come in all shapes and sizes

Employees act as the first line of defence in any corporate setting; it will probably come as no surprise that, on average, 19% of all messages in corporate inboxes are spam. As well as creating a nuisance, spam emails are commonly used to spread malware and other cyber threats.

With this in mind, it’s vital that employees are aware of the risks and understand how to handle them. Better education for staff will play a key role in protecting your business, and your team members should be trained on a regular basis to keep them up to date.

Centralised management is another necessity. As a small business or startup, it’s likely that you won’t yet have a dedicated IT department, so security systems must be easy to use and manage so that potential issues which arise can be easily and quickly addressed.

An intelligent, flexible system that can be managed centrally is the main priority. This will allow updates to be pushed automatically to all appliances to keep your network up to date and fully protected. Access to networks should be controlled with identity management.

All devices attempting to log onto the network must be examined to verify that they comply with the necessary security policies, such as having antivirus software installed and being updated with the latest signatures.

Building your security strategy isn’t about installing a simple one size fits all solution - different businesses will have different needs and priorities. Developments in technology mean that you will be able to find a solution for every security challenge, but take the time to understand what options are available before making an investment.

Hacker ISIS Kill List Leak

American officials have charged a hacker in Malaysia with leaking a “kill list” of more than 1,000 American military and government personnel to Islamic State, The Wall Street Journal reports. The hacker, a man named Ardit Ferizi, is actually a native of Kosovo who was detained in Malaysia based on an American warrant for his arrest. The 20-year-old Ferizi was in Malaysia pursuing studies in computer science, Malaysian officials say.
The charged hacker went by the name “Th3Dir3ctorY” online and is alleged to have hacked into a corporate computer system in the U.S. that contained information about American personnel. He then passed this information off to Islamic State to help them target American military and government officials.
“Ardit Ferizi is a terrorist hacker who provided material support to ISIL by stealing the personally identifiable information of U.S. service members and federal employees and providing it to ISIL for use against those employees,” said U.S. Assistant Attorney General John Carlin, who is the chief of the DOJ’s National Security division.
Ferizi is being held in Malaysia for now and is awaiting extradition to the U.S., where he’ll face a trial for his alleged crimes.

ENTERTAINMENT

Rarely does a video come along that is all but impossible to turn away from — not because it's entertaining, but because the knot in your stomach won't allow it. Today Usher debuted his new song "Chains" featuring Nas and Bibi Bourelly and the video for it is an interactive experience that uses facial recognition software to challenge viewers to not look away from the horrifying details of recent police brutality in a very literal way: the song will pause if you look away from your screen.

The video is currently being hosted by Tidal, which is a subscription service, but they're making this specific video available to anyone and everyone.

“I chose to introduce the song through the 'Don’t Look Away’ experience because it is important not only to feel the issue but to face it,” Usher said in a statement. “The pain and suffering that these victims and their families have endured is something we must never forget. When we look away from this problem it gets worse. To fix it, we have to face it.”

The single for the first time at the upcoming Tidal X 1020 benefit concert next week at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, with all of the proceeds from the single going towards a social justice organization.

Ted Richards is so obsessed with his pet parrots Ellie, Teaka, Timneh, Jake and Bubi that he's had his face tattooed with their colourful feathers. The 56-year-old former factory worker who already has 110 tattoos, went further by removing his ears in an extreme act of mutilation made famous by artist Van Gough. Ted gave his severed ears to a mate who he believes "will appreciate them".

But according to Daily Star, he is not stopping there because he is now planning to find a surgeon prepared to turn his nose into a beak.

Stanford engineers have created a plastic "skin" that can detect how hard it is being pressed and generate an electric signal to deliver this sensory input directly to a living brain cell.

Zhenan Bao, a professor of chemical engineering at Stanford, has spent a decade trying to develop a material that mimics skin's ability to flex and heal, while also serving as the sensor net that sends touch, temperature and pain signals to the brain. Ultimately she wants to create a flexible electronic fabric embedded with sensors that could cover a prosthetic limb and replicate some of skin's sensory functions.

Bao's work, reported today in Science, takes another step toward her goal by replicating one aspect of touch, the sensory mechanism that enables us to distinguish the pressure difference between a limp handshake and a firm grip.

"This is the first time a flexible, skin-like material has been able to detect pressure and also transmit a signal to a component of the nervous system," said Bao, who led the 17-person research team responsible for the achievement.

Benjamin Tee, a recent doctoral graduate in electrical engineering; Alex Chortos, a doctoral candidate in materials science and engineering; and Andre Berndt, a postdoctoral scholar in bioengineering, were the lead authors on the Science paper.

Digitizing touch
The heart of the technique is a two-ply plastic construct: the top layer creates a sensing mechanism and the bottom layer acts as the circuit to transport electrical signals and translate them into biochemical stimuli compatible with nerve cells. The top layer in the new work featured a sensor that can detect pressure over the same range as human skin, from a light finger tap to a firm handshake.

Five years ago, Bao's team members first described how to use plastics and rubbers as pressure sensors by measuring the natural springiness of their molecular structures. They then increased this natural pressure sensitivity by indenting a waffle pattern into the thin plastic, which further compresses the plastic's molecular springs.

To exploit this pressure-sensing capability electronically, the team scattered billions of carbon nanotubes through the waffled plastic. Putting pressure on the plastic squeezes the nanotubes closer together and enables them to conduct electricity.

This allowed the plastic sensor to mimic human skin, which transmits pressure information to the brain as short pulses of electricity, similar to Morse code. Increasing pressure on the waffled nanotubes squeezes them even closer together, allowing more electricity to flow through the sensor, and those varied impulses are sent as short pulses to the

An article of France’s civil code, which ‘allows judges to protect a child from a potential lifetime of mockery was cited by the court before overruling the parents. Until 1993, babies in France had to be given a name from a list deemed acceptable by the government.

The list was scrapped, but a court can still ban names if they decide it is against the child’s best interests. Last year, a court in Valenciennes, banned one couple from naming their daughter, Strawberry, because the girl would face being mocked. “Move your Strawberry” is French slang for “Move your bottom.”

Judges ruled that the baby girl would end up being the subject of extreme mockery, especially from future schoolmates. This year a dog owner was told he could not name his dogs ‘Itler’ and ‘Iva’ after Adolf Hitler and his partner Eva Braun…

In a bid for gender equality, Sweden opened its first rape center specifically for male victims Thursday, Metro reported. The clinic opened at Södersjukhuset, one of the largest hospitals in Stockholm. The new clinic is understood to be the first emergency department devoted solely to male rape victims.

Sweden has the highest rate of rape in Europe, and the hospital already operates a 24-hour, walk-in clinic for women and girls who have been sexually assaulted, treating between 600 to 700 patients a year. Roughly 370 cases of sexual assault on males were reported in the country in 2014, according to the Swedish National Council for Crime Prevention. The opening of the rape center was hailed by multiple political parties in the country.

"Emergency medical care for raped men will be free of charge, and offered around the clock, all year," local Moderate party politician and council representative on emergency care in a statement, Marie Ljungberg Schöt said in a statement, the Local reported. "So far there has been no specific place for men who are victims of rape to turn to. Therefore we in the Alliance have decided to change this."

A study conducted in 2014 by the sexual education organization RFSU proposed that men across many municipalities in Sweden were uncertain about where they could get emergency help prior to a rape.

"There are myths about masculinity that make it difficult for men who have been sexually traumatized to talk about their experiences," said Inger Björklund, a spokesperson for RFSU, the Local reported. "A clinic focusing on men who have been sexually abused will contribute to the awareness of experiences of sexual abuse among men and make it more possible to meet men's needs."

Today is the late Fela’s 77th post-humous birthday. Below is a picture of his preserved bedroom in his Kalakuta, Ikeja home shared by photographer Yagazie Emezi.

Below are 10 facts you probably did not know about Fela:

1. Once he had recorded a song, he never played it live again He had reportedly been offered several Thousands to perform his old hits, which he refused.

2.He maintained a close relationship with Duke Ellington till the Duke’s death and he is reputed to have helped Fela in scoring a number of his songs.

3. He had a serious run-in with Paul McCartney after EMI barred Fela from recording in its Studio in Lagos, because McCartney was scheduled to record the “Band on the Run” album, even though Kuti had pre-booked the Studio. He reportedly barricaded the entrance to the Studio until the issues were ironed out. They stayed friends subsequently though, with McCartney recently picking up the tab for Fela’s son’s Music Course at McCartneys Music School. 2nd reason to like Macca, the first being sorting out Jimi Hendrix’ first Festival gig.

4. He started out as a Trumpeter and was only forced to learn to play the Saxophone after his star Sax player- Igo Chiko left the Band in 1972, resulting in Fela being booed off stage in Ghana in the same year.

5. He had considerable physical attributes. I recall being told by a friend about an occasion in Fela’s House , where he was holding court and engaged in a serious political argument- stark naked. My friend’s account is to the effect that people on both sides of him constantly had to duck to avoid getting knocked out cold, by his err.. person as he gesticulated excitedly in the course of the argument.

6. His mum was one of the First Feminist activists in Africa and was on friendly terms with Mao Tse Tung, well regarded by Krushchev and such like persons. An articulate and formidable character, she was certainly not the typical Vicar’s wife, Fela’s Dad was an Anglican Reverend, but wholly supportive of his wife’s activism (equally inspiring for an African couple in the 1920’s/1930’s). She died in 1979 as a result of injuries suffered when she was thrown out of a window two stories up in Fela’s House by the invading Soldiers and Policemen (over a 1000 in all) drafted by the Nigerian Government to silence him finally in 1977. The Nigerian Government rather cynically appointed him a member of the Police Public Relations Commitee in 1981. (See, even Dictator’s have a sense of humour). He equally returned the compliment by first confiscating the hats of two Traffic Policement and then dragging his mothers Coffin on foot over several miles to the residence of the Head of the Military Junta asking that they bury her. (I do recognise that there is more than one fact contained herein- I repeat, its my blog and I’ll do what I want to).

7. His home in Lagos- called Kalakuta (corruption of Calcutta) Republic (named after the notorious Police Cell Block where he was detained in 1974), was open to any and every homeless drifter, where Fela would give them a roof and a meal as well as some kind of job- in many instances.

8. He was given a brand new Mercedes Benz 280 Limo by his Record company, which he reputedly used regularly in loading up filthy firewood/charcoal used in cooking to feed the masses in his self-styled Republic.

9. A million people marched with Fela’s Coffin on its final journey to burial in his house. More than have ever witnessed any state event in Nigeria.

10. He was briefly listed in the Guinness book of records for the most number of women married at one ceremony- 27, in 1978

We are this close to making history people!!! Please read Freeman’s statement below and support his bid by clicking on this link:Krugercowne.com/rising star
Quick historical fact: No Nigerian has ever been to space, no Black African even. That could change next year. My name is Freeman Osonuga, I am an African, I am a Nigerian, I am a humanitarian. I was recently selected as one of 30 people to participate in the Rising Star Programme, a collaboration between Kruger Cowne, One Young World and Spaceship Earth Grants which will send one person to space in 2016.
I am happy to inform you that I have been shortlisted as one of 3 finalists. More than just being the journey of a lifetime, this spaceflight will help bring commercial space travel closer to being a reality. It is quite important.

For the next stage of the competition, I will travel to Bangkok, Thailand with the two other finalists to address 1,300 delegates and a panel of renowned judges at a special session of the 2015 One Young World Summit which will hold from November 18-21 next month. This session will be live-streamed to a global audience. I am a little nervous I must confess, but I'm quite confident that I'll make Africa, Nigeria and you proud.

To show your support and help make history, please tweet #SendFreemanToSpace whenever you can. It'll also be great if you can get your friends to do the same. Also here's what you can do right now to help- click the following link and share my finalist profile via the social media platforms provided below my video.

I look forward to sharing more good news with you soon.

Thank you for your time.

So the Sochi Grand Prix held yesterday in Russia andFormula One driver Lewis Hamilton won the race. Russian president Vladimir Putin, who is a huge fan of Formula, was on hand to hand Hamilton the winner's trophy. He climbed the podium, hugged Lewis, gave him his trophy and as he made to leave, Lewis, who is known for his celebratory antics, splashed champagne on Putin. Lol. See the pics after the cut...

 Some people's reaction

Above is what Super Eagles coach Sunday Oliseh tweeted a few minuted ago before he deleted it for a more defined one. But caught it before he deleted it...lol. Below is the new one he tweeted...

He deleted the "who irrespective of all lies believed!" part! Congrats to Oliseh and Super Eagles for the victory yesterday. They beat Cameroon 3-0

Vincent-Enyeama
Former Super Eagles captain, Vincent Enyeama has come out to speak more about the rift between him and his coach, Sunday Oliseh. Enyeama spoke to Galaxy Television detailing how it all happened. The interview;
We have heard so much about your rift with Super Eagles coach, Sunday Oliseh. tell us, what has been going on?
First, of all, I want to thank Nigerians. I appreciate the passion, the criticism, everything. I want to say a very big thank you.
On the issue on ground, I think this is not the best way to treat someone who has served the country with so much enthusiasm and so much passion, so much dedication, you know, commitment. I think I have honoured almost all the matches I have been invited to play for the Super Eagles.
So to be treated the way I was treated a couple of days ago, I personally don’t accept that.
What really happened in the camp between you and Oliseh? How were treated?
When I came to camp, I had no issues with my coach. The coach has been a big part of me. He is there for me. He fought for me when I had issues with the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF). The coach defended me all the way. I have never had an issue with him.
He (Oliseh) doesn’t know me. I don’t know him. We have never played together. We have never shared a football field, together.
The first thing that happened when I first arrived at the camp was a meeting. At the meeting, the coach addressed the players. The first thing he said was that he invited four goalkeepers to camp because he never expected me to come to the camp.
Secondly, he said that I was no more the captain of the team. That he had decided and he calls the shots. That was before dinner. He ended his speech with, “Enjoy your dinner”.
For me, it was a little bit shocking because I spoke with the NFF chairman (Amaju Pinnick) during the burial of my mother in Akwa Ibom. I was trying to excuse myself from coming to the camp because of the burial. He said, “No, Vincent, you have to be in camp”. He pushed me to be in camp. And because I really respect him (Pinnick), I told him I was going to leave everything, the thanksgiving service for my late mum. I told him, I was going to abandon it and come to the camp, which I did.
All the family meetings, everything we had to do with the people in the village, I abandoned all that and came to the camp.
So, for me to get my first welcome message of being stripped of captainship was a little bit not good for me. And after I had taken my food and ate, dinner had commenced. I am just telling you what played out.
I said, “Coach, please, I would like to say something.” He said, “No, you can’t talk”. I insisted that I wanted to talk. He insisted that I can’t talk. He then said that if I wanted to talk, he would order the team out and nobody would listen to me and I would sit there and talk alone or I would have to walk out if I insisted on talking.
I said, “Coach, I still want to say something.” And he said, “Vincent, get out! You have to leave now. If you don’t leave, I’m going to call the cops, the security to throw you out of this hotel.” He used the word, “security”.
He then got up, went to the door and opened it and commanded me to go out. He said, “Go out, go out, Vincent! Or I am going to call the security.”
So that is how it played out?
So, for me to lose my mother, be invited to the camp, only to be stripped of captainship. Then out of argument, to be threatened to have the cops or security called for me, to me, I think it is the height of it.
I have heard all sorts of things that Neymar this and that. They never treated Thiago Silva that way. They never treated Mascherano that way. Some Nigerians can say whatever they want to say, but for me, I feel that’s not the right way to be treated.
I am still open for playing for Nigeria till the day I die. Till the day I can stop playing football. Till the day God gives me the grace to stop playing football or to keep playing football. As long as I can play football, I will play for my country. Even at the age of 100, if I can play football, I am still open to playing for Nigeria.
But, now, I just want to go home and be with my family.
Does this mean that after speaking with the NFF, you will seek official excuse to leave the camp?
Yesterday, the coach (Oliseh) came back to the bus and said he doesn’t know me, he doesn’t want to know me, he doesn’t care about me, and he doesn’t have anything to do with me.
That is a part of this issue that people don’t know because I haven’t said anything. I keep my mouth quiet, and I said nothing on that bus.
When he said this, you still trained with the team?
I am still with the team because Pinnick told me to wait till he comes (to Belgium). The president of the NFF told me to wait, that is why I am waiting. I am respecting him. That is why I am still in the camp.
The coach said he doesn’t need me, doesn’t want me, he doesn’t know me. And he doesn’t want to know me. So, I shouldn’t be forced to play with such a coach.
I don’t have a problem with him (Oliseh). He is a great man. He is a a great guy. He is a nice guy. But, I tell you the truth, I just wanna go home and be with my family. This period, I am mourning my mum, I don’t want any more problems. Now, people are saying all kinds of things like, “Vincent is stubborn”.
I don’t know if there is anybody in this world who is treated that way that would not want to know why he is being stripped of the captainship.
I am not so concerned about being captain. I don’t have a problem with it (being removed as captain). But, I think I should be given an excuse, a reason why.
I have been playing for Nigeria for 13 years. So I feel if a decision is being taken on me, I think I deserve to know why.
And moreso, I was being invited. I did not come through the backdoor. I was invited.
In my club, in the European Club, if a coach doesn’t play you in a match, he comes to your room, or he calls you, or he invites you to his room. He tells you, “You’re not going to play today, because I want to field another player”. It shows respect.
I have worked so hard for my country. I was part of the success of Nigerian football, then I am being treated like that without being given a chance to express myself. Then, I think that is not fair.
I am feeling so sad. I am feeling really, really sad. Because I would have stopped playing football for Nigeria after the World Cup. But, then, I changed my mind because I love the country so much. I love Nigeria so much. I want her to return to glory. I want to be part of that glory. I want to be part of the pain. I want to be part of what happens in Nigerian football. It breaks my heart that Nigerian football is struggling. But, then, I want to be part of rewriting our story.
But, if the coach and the people don’t want me to be part of it, I believe there are better ways of taking me out. You can call me and talk to me. You can send me a message. You can do a phone call. You don’t need to invite me to camp, to tell me in the presence of everyone. You don’t need to invite me to tell me that you’re going to call the cops for me.
I did nothing wrong. I am not an armed robber. I feel bad, I feel bad. I am telling you the truth. I feel really bad. I feel very sad
