When You Marry an edo woman in white skin its not me that would tell you

A 69-year-old man has been forced to live on the front lawn of his $1.3million mansion for six months after his angry doctor wife kicked him out.

Sharafat Khan is homeless but sleeping just a few feet away from the front door of his lavish Seabrook, Texas, home because the mother of his two children, Shahnaz, 61, changed the locks in the midst of an ongoing domestic dispute.

Someone close to the situation said Khan's wife claims she can't file for divorce because she and her husband practice Islam and they strictly follow Sharia law. Khan told KPRC this has nothing to do with religion and everything to do with money.

"She doesn’t want to hand over half her fortune," he said.
He can’t file for divorce because he claims he can't afford to.

He has no access to the couple's money and has been barred from using the washing facilities, even though he owns half the suburban property.
Neighbours are very worried because he is elderly, in poor health and in a fragile state.
"He’s wearing the same clothing, it’s dirty,” neighbor Debbie Scoggins said. “He has no bathroom facilities, no shoes."
"The weather is starting to get colder,” Laurel Stout, who lives across the street, said. "He’s very frail, he can’t even walk. I’m afraid he is going to die out here in his yard."
Khan doesn’t feel like he should have to leave because the home and property are just as much his. He said he wants to be allowed inside and he’s hoping he can pressure his wife into changing her mind.
"She doesn’t want me to have any sort of comfort," he said.
Night after night he sleeps on the front porch wrapped in a sheet. During the day he tries to find shade under the trees. On Monday he was eating saltine crackers and drinking a warm bottle of water.
Neighbors said if they take him blankets and pillows, the wife takes them away.

There are signs posted all over the home instructing the neighbors not to help him or feed him.
Khan said the dispute is over his relationship with other family members. She wanted him to cut ties but he refused.
Police officers who are familiar with the situation said they have been called out to the home 20 to 30 times in the last six months. There is nothing legally they can do because Khan has every right to be there and they can’t force his wife to let him in.
"Our hands are tied," one officer said.
Adult Protective Services are involved but can’t release specific information about the case because of confidentiality laws. A spokesperson for the agency said they cannot force someone to get help.
"I’m just hoping we can find help for him," Scoggins said.
"Allowing this to continue is not in the best interest of anyone," Stout said.
KPRC 2 reached out to the doctor for comment, she said it was a private matter and did not wish to speak about it.
Some problems stemmed from a 2008 assault charge, that's when Sharafat Khan was accused of hitting his wife, according to court documents.
Family members also said they have tried to get Khan help but he refuses. They've spoken with social workers and he's been in and out of certain facilities but often leaves against medical advice.

Are you a parent? Do you desire greatness for your children? Have you ever heard the life story of the disabled woman who was blind and deaf? Indeed! Blind and deaf from age 2, she moved on to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree cum laude at age 24in 1904.

She wrote 12 books, was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom, one of the United States' two highest civilian honors and she met with over 12 presidents of the united states from 1893 – 1963.

Her name was Helen Keller. Discover the shocking secret of the overwhelming and inspiring success of this blind deaf woman and see how you can apply it to help your own kids…

Helen Keller’s story is one of phenomenal success especially for a woman with such incredible challenges as hers. Despite her disabilities she learned to read, interpret speech through her fingers and even wrote many critically acclaimed books. Interestingly, whenever Helen Keller’s story is told there is another name that is always mentioned - Anne Sullivan
Anne Sullivan was not her mother, not her sister or aunty or school teacher. Anne Sullivan was actually Helen Keller’s personal tutor. Due to her disabilities, Helen Keller was unable to learn as a child and at age 7 she had become unruly and violent so much so that relatives suggested that she should be institutionalized (kept in a facility). Helen Keller’s tutor was perhaps the single most influential person in her life, her constant companion and after a long life of phenomenal success at her death Helen Keller was buried beside Anne Sullivan.
Helen Keller’s meeting with Annie Sullivan set her on a path to greatness. Getting a personal tutor, who can motivate, encourage and simulate your child can be one of the smartest and greatest decisions you as a parent might make. Even as an adult, a tutor can serve as a life coach/ instructor constantly encouraging you to meet your set goals. Whether you need that tutor to:
Support and Help your child out with assignments
Prepare your child for an exam
Revise course work with the child
Teach your child to master an important skill like reading, writing, learning a different language or playing a musical instrument.

Even though singledom has it’s perks, it does have some downsides too. If you’re a single girl, you can definitely relate with one or all of these:
1. Your friends always try to set you up with a “friend of a friend.”
Source
No, I’m not interested in meeting Mike, okay?
2. People, mostly relatives and African parents try to tell you that you need to find someone.
Source: giphy
3. Or constantly ask why you don’t have a boyfriend or girlfriend.
Source
Why are you so interested in my personal life?
4. You feel like a third wheel when you hang out with a couple.
Source

5. Your friends in relationships always talk about their relationships.
Source
Oh you got flowers? OMG, yes, please tell me about all the ~cute~ things your boyfriend does.
6. Or their relationship problems.
Source
You’re fighting again? How fascinating.
7. Seeing PDA sometimes makes you feel really lonely.
Source
Well, I’m depressed.
8. Or really, really grossed out.
Source
9. “You know you’d get a boyfriend if you…”
Source
OH REALLY?
10. Your exes or past hookups think they can just slide back in out of nowhere.
Source
I’m single, not desperate.
11. Guys are always like “How are you single?” and you’re all:
Source
I know, I’m amazing right?
12. Your #MCM is always a celeb.
Source
Because, well, you don’t have your own.
13. Some people ask if you’re a lesbian.
Source
sigh
14. People tell you that you’ve been single for too long.
Source
Well I wasn’t aware there was something called ‘single timeline.’
15. When your friends are out as couples and you’re at home watching TV
Source
It’s cool guys. I’ll just be here by myself.
16. Sometimes you just want someone around.
Source
Because it can be nice on occasion.
17. But mostly, you get a little sick of hanging out with yourself all the time.
Source
You’re completely amazing, but too much of a good thing can be bad.
Are you single? What are some single girl struggles you have?

bmwHe came to pick me up on a Saturday morning…
Assigned by the company to be my “driver” for the day. But the way he spoke, the way he talked, the way he carried himself … was just different. I could not place my finger on it.
And as the Air Conditioner from the car protected me from the madness outside Lagos, I could have easily forgotten about him.
But I couldn’t … his face stayed in my head. I couldn’t understand why he was driving, he looked like someone that could be working for us…the company.
A couple of months later I sat down at a management meeting…and I don’t know why but I started thinking about drivers and wondering about their opportunity to grow within the company. You see when we talk about drivers we rarely look beyond the wheel … in fact the career path of a driver is quite predictable …driver…senior driver and senior senior driver…you get the point. So my hand defied gravity and I raised it up…
“How can we give drivers more opportunities” I asked.
A voice from across the room said we did one time it failed…another said it was difficult to do because of this and because of that…but I kept asking and asking, until finally we had to move on to another topic…
2 months later, the HR rep called me. When HR calls, you are either in trouble or in real BIG trouble. But I was called to interview a “Candidate” for a technical position. She sent me the resume…a UNIBEN graduate…his name didn’t ring a bell. But then he walked in…I remembered him … the driver that didn’t look like a driver …
But the interview had to happen…I dusted off a bunch of engineering questions … I wanted to know if he could handle them…I heard rumors of candidates who could not answer simple primary school questions, so I had to ensure he was not one of them. But this guy…he was rusty but smart, he understood the questions and tackled them quite impressively. I gave my recommendation to HR…
“engineering foundation solid but would need to learn on the job.”
They promised to get back to him…6 months passed…9 months and then a year. I would bump into him occasionally and ask “how far job” and he would say nothing. Nothing.
So last week I had a cough…that dry harmattan cough that would not just go away. So I went to see the doctor and bumped into him…yes him…the “driver.” He was filling out a form…I asked him what he was here for, “Was he sick?” He said no…he was here for his Fitness To Work Medical Check Up…he had gotten an offer. Finally!
When we think about that word driver it is easy to see that low life poverty stricken guy with no education working for us. It all merges into one, we see our drivers as well drivers, we save their names as Ade The Driver or Driver Ade, as if driver is their last or first name.
But not everyone driving is doing so because they want to be there or they have a passion for driving. I mean nobody gets up in Primary school and says “When I grow up … I want to be a driver!” Most people drive because of the crazy circumstances of life in Nigeria, the high unemployment.
So aside from our mandatory responsibility to treat drivers with respect, we should also push them to finish up their education, if they need to go to school on weekends arrange for it. Help them become better, and for those of us in positions of influence advocate on the behalf of the talented drivers you discover. Remember nobody except Jason Statham grows up wanting to be a driver! Drive the change.

The Common Entrance Exam …
That exam that technically determined whether you could go from Primary to Secondary school, was my first experience of the concept called Federal Character.
Back then I did not understand it or comprehend it or even know that such a thing as Federal Character existed. To me it was just an unfair part of being black Bendelite.
You see back in 1991/92 when Edo and Delta still existed in unity as one Bendel state … I had the unfortunate luxury to be from there … Bendel state, a state with one of the if not the highest cut off mark in the Nation at that time.
So as I rejoiced at how great (at least in my opinion) my Common Entrance Exam result was, I was quickly reminded that my great was not good enough for Bendel state. It did not matter that I held a result that would have made people in other states orgasm … my result from a Bendelite perspective was comical.
1qkEJak
And sadly, nobody sat down to explain it to me. I just felt cheated. In my head I was like “why would people with lower scores go ahead of me.” It made absolutely no sense … it seemed unfair.
sadness
It wasn’t until I started getting older that I begun to understand what happened to me in 1991/92. You see my high-cut off mark was a strategic plan by the Nigerian Federal Government to ensure that our Secondary School had Federal Character.
Fast forward a few years to today and that Federal Character conversation has come up again see article here.
And this time we are not just talking about Secondary Schools … we are talking about the Federal Government itself! And several people are of the opinion that as long as the Nation succeeds … Federal Character is irrelevant. The message they spread is simply this, pick the “best.”  And when I hear that it reminds me about my mentality in 1991 …
Which was, pick the best common entrance scores and put them in the best schools and leave the rest to fight for the scraps. Thankfully my 1991 mentality lost, because if it had won, we would have had Secondary schools dominated by just a few States. And their performances when they entered school from a purely arithmetic perspective would be very good after-all they are the best, but overall for Nigeria it would not have been good, as a certain number of states would be cut out.
So as controversial as it is, I believe Federal Character is something the Federal government should make a conscious effort to adhere to. Because the Federal Government sets the tone for the entire nation and when organizations, institutions and other bodies see the Federal Government discarding Federal Character, they will tend to do the same.
And I know it is difficult, almost impossible to make Federal Character happen … but the main thing is that our government at least puts in a solid and honest effort to achieve it without sacrificing the success of our Nation!

There are almost twice as many male entrepreneurs as female throughout the world. The gap has been attributed to long-standing gender biases that have become so ingrained in our culture that, even today, both male and female investors prefer pitches from men over women, according to a new report from the Proceedings of the National Academy on Sciences (PNAS).
According to BI, additionally, attractive men fare significantly better than their less attractive counterparts, the report finds, while looks have no notable effect on how a female entrepreneur is perceived.
The report is based on three studies conducted by Alison Wood Brooks of Harvard Business School, Laura Huang of UPenn’s Wharton School, and Sarah Wood Kearney and Fiona E. Murray of MIT’s Sloan School.
For the first study, the team analyzed three pitch competitions over the course of three years. Each contestant had about five minutes to narrate a series of slides outlining his or her business plan, a practice that has become venture capitalists’ preferred standard of judging entrepreneurs.
The randomly selected test group was composed of 70 male entrepreneurs and 20 female entrepreneurs. A successful pitch was defined as one that received a prize, and the physical attractiveness of the test subjects was judged by a separate panel of 60 angel investors unaware of the competitions’ results.
When weighing just the factor of gender, male entrepreneurs were 60% more likely to achieve pitch competition success than female entrepreneurs. And attractive men were 36% more likely to achieve success than their average-looking counterparts.
The results remained the same regardless of differences in the business sector presented, the pitch competitions evaluated, the time the pitch was given, and how long the pitch lasted.
In the second study, the research team recruited a nationally representative sample of 521 Americans, of which 47% were female. It collected real startup pitches from a university competition and had a panel of 12 expert investors rank each pitch on a scale of 1 to 7 for how likely it was to succeed. Participants were paid based on the accuracy of their choices, in an effort to control any conscious biases.
The sample group sat at a computer and watched a pitch slideshow narrated by either a randomly assigned male or female voice. Although the voices presented identical pitches, 68% of participants chose to fund the ventures pitched by a male voice and only 32% of participants chose to fund the ventures pitched by a female voice.
The age and gender of the participating judges had no effect on decision-making.
For the final study, 194 Americans (57% female) were shown just one narrated pitch video accompanied by a gender-matched photograph previously judged as either attractive or not. The researchers asked participants to rate how likely they were to invest in the company after hearing the pitch, as well as other qualifying questions.
Once again, male-narrated pitches significantly outscored identical pitches narrated by women, and those from men were also found to be more “persuasive,” “fact based,” and “logical.”
On a scale of 1 to 7 (7 meaning very likely to invest), attractive men averaged 5.21, while less attractive men averaged 4.59. Meanwhile, unattractive women scored slightly higher than attractive women, but within the margin of error.
The report found a clear correlation between gender and success, and the importance of good looks for men.
The researchers acknowledged that previous research suggests women entrepreneurs become more appealing when they pitch companies traditionally associated with old gender stereotypes (beauty, fashion, and cleaning, for example), but they did not ask participants to explain their decisions.
Even without explanation, the report suggests that entrepreneurialism is still seen as a man’s venture, and both men and women cling to this bias.

“Not again!” I, Stella spat out at the sight of the female underwear I found inside my fiance suit jacket. “This isn’t mine!”
I shut my eyes and took a deep breath with the panties clutched in my right hand.
“If loving you is a crime I will kill you tonight.”
Terry and I have been dating for the past three years and we are parents to a two-year-old kid living with my mother. After the birth of our only child, sex has been boring and unexciting. Tonight I had planned to surprise him with a hot steamy fuck because it was his birthday. I arrived home early from work to tidy up the bedroom when I noticed his jacket under the bed. I searched inside if any important piece was inside before throwing it into the laundry basket. To my astonishment, I found the unthinkable.
I opened my eyes and fire sparked out.
Lightning exploded my soul.
Anger surrounded my inner thoughts.
I threw the underwear on the bed, removed my clothes and my engagement ring. I dashed into the bathroom for a warm bath to caress me. What I had in mind was no longer a stab to his abdomen but revenge on him. I have been loyal but I am done! I rejected countless hot men just because I wanted to be faithful to a reckless cheating asshole. This time, I am ready to give my whole body to the nearest available hunk I meet tonight. I got out of the shower and cleaned my body. I dressed into a short tight gown reaching below my knee and it revealed an irresistible cleavage with my boobs pumping out without my nipple showing. I was ready for a night one stand, a stranger for an unholy fuck. I grabbed my car key from my table in the bedroom and drove to a bar.

I sat down alone and ordered for a particular brand of whiskey. After being served and drank two glasses, I noticed a good looking man with a muscular body staring at me lustfully. He had a fine face.
His gaze caressed my body and I could not stop smiling. I alerted the bar man to fill up my glass cup with another brand of whiskey.
I was high. I wanted to get very high.
I stood up and motioned to meet the dude. I was not ashamed of what I wanted tonight. Being high on alcohol made me bold!
“I want a hot fuck tonight.” I whispered into his left ear.
He didn’t stare at me surprised. “Am I your rebound guy?” he asked.
“Call it whatever you like,” I said staring straight into his eyes. “You interested?”
“With pleasure,” he replied. “I am interested in a sizzling cookie like you. My name is…”
“I don’t need your name.”
I dragged him by his hand outside the bar, I led him into my car, and we drove off without saying a word to each other. He only gazed at me with his sexy eyes. We arrived at a nearby motel and lodged into a room.

“Since you are not interested in knowing my name,” he said as we entered and I locked the door with a key. “I will give you a steaming fired up fucking you have never had before. You will not forget me in a hurry. Go on your knees.”
“WTF?”
“I said go on your knees and bring out my dick.” His voice sounded fascinating.
I went down on my knees like a respectful servant, grinned and peered into his eyes.
“What are you waiting for?” he asked in an angry tone. It was sensual to me.
I unzipped his trouser and took out a thick fat hardy cock. I gave him an eye and back at my feast. I opened my hungry mouth and guzzled his manhood inside and I began to suck him diligently. I kissed his shaft gradually, enjoying the moment. I sucked him wholly and tasted him. He groaned as his cock mesmerized into my mouth. I explored his dick by sucking it as if my life depended on it.
He raised me up after the exploration and crashed his lips against mine, biting my lower lip serenely. His wet tongue plunged inside my mouth. He wrapped his arms around my body and removed his lips from mine. He peered into my eyes and removed my gown and pantie nonviolently. He pushed me to the bed with my naked body caressing the bed.
“Easy.” I said.
He laughed, undressed himself, toke out a condom from his trouser and wore it. He came towards me, and kissed my belly. His hands ran up my breasts and gave me a desirable look I adored. He stroked my boobs and I gasped. He lips went from my belly and began to suck my nipple in a way no one has. He used his rainy tongue and teeth at the same time. My body shuddered at the sensation I felt. He went down to my pussy and played with my clitoris before he dipped a finger into it. He fucked me with it and later removed it and licked his hand. What he did sent waves into me.
He came on top of me and my wet pussy accommodated his massive dick as he slid into me. The feeling I felt was sensational and freaking awesome. He pounded me with intense force and the pleasurable pain I sensed rocked my body.
His eyes gave me a shot. “Do you want me to stop?”
I did want him to stop but move faster! “No.”
He smiled at me. “Good girl.”
He increased his speed and hit me more and I screamed out of passion for having a gratifying fuck with a man I do not know. My mind went to my fiance and I did not feel guilt but pleasure. He slid out his dick and turned me. He positioned me in a doggy style. Without holding back, he rammed into me again, fucking the hell out of me and hitting my buttocks with his right hand. I became extremely wet with the cock banging inside me. I closed my eyes as I felt my body shiver. As he slammed me unbreakable over and over again, I sensed a burst of hot cum inside me.
I climaxed a few seconds after him and he hugged my body, holding me tight. It was a great feeling with him. All I did was rest a little, walked to the bathroom for a quick shower, dressed and informed him I was going for a drink at the bar. He told me he was going to join me in few minutes but he did not he was never going to see me again. I left the room, walked to my car, and drove away.
The end.

My friend Cynthia kept grinning as she pressed her blackberry phone. I thought she was probably chatting with one of her numerous married boyfriends. I stood and stared at Cynthia without her noticing me of my glare. I quickly glanced at my wristwatch. It was 1:30pm. We both had lectures together but she seems unprepared to step out from the self-contain room we both shared. She was wearing a black bump short and a yellow tan top.

“Are you not going to class again madam pinging?” I, Chioma asked her.
“I pray oh! She uttered. “Class ke? The lecture can wait.”

“You know we might be giving test according to what the lecturer said the last time in class. I am already dressed but I can still wait for you to do the same but be fast about it.”
She looked over at my face. “I won’t blame you for saying all these, it’s because you have no idea who I am chatting with.”

“Of course I know, it’s must be one of your sugar daddies.”

“Sugar daddies?” she asked and hissed at me. “I have sacked all of them. I have someone, a bank manager I have been dating for the past three months.”

I was stunned because I had no clue about it. “Why wasn’t I told about it?”

“It is because you will criticize the relationship.”
“Why should I do that?” I asked. “It’s a good thing you are no longer dating married men. At last you have a man of your own.”

“Who told you he’s not a married man?”

I widened my eyes.

She continued to talk. “My boyfriend is married and we will get married soon.”

What is that supposed to mean? You want to be a second wife?”

Cynthia pointed a finger at her chest. “I can never be a second wife, God forbid! He’s leaving his wife.”

He’s leaving his wife?” I asked completely aback.

Yes.” she replied. “He has sent her parking already and they will get divorced soon.”

“Does he have children?”

“Chioma! You ask plenty questions. Have you become a detective?”

I smiled at her joke. “No, just answer me.”

She eyed me. “He has three boys.”

“What does his wife do for a living?”

Cynthia eyed me again. “She’s a lawyer.”

“Have you ever been to his house?”

She shook her head. “I know where he lives but I’ve never been there. He will invite me over after the divorce is concluded.”

I laughed hard at her stupidity. Tears came out from my eyes as I rolled over on the bed.

She looked at me stunned! “Did I say anything funny?”
I stopped laughing and sat well on the bed. “How can you believe he will leave his three children, his barrister wife and marry an undergraduate? What can you offer him in marriage?”

“Mstchhheeew, my body of course.”

“Your body?” I asked. “What does his wife have? Stick abi? Because you carried Olumo rock on your chest, you think that can offer him anything? These days’ men do not want a liability for a wife.”

She got angry and slapped my hand. “Why won’t he leave his wife? They don’t love each other anymore.”

“Do you live with them?” I asked her. “How can you be so sure he’s saying the truth?”

“Kunle can never lie to me. Just leave me alone Chioma and go to class.”

“Are you not going to class?”

“No!” she shouted. I quickly carried my bag and went to class. Luckily for Cynthia, the test was cancelled. We finished the lecture by 4pm and after that, I went to a nearby market to buy some foodstuffs. I went back to the room in the hostel, but Cynthia was not in. I went to the kitchen to prepare white rice and fish stew. At 6:15pm, I was through with my cooking. I served myself and went inside the room. As I was about to put a spoon of rice inside my hungry mouth, Linda burst the door opened. I saw her face covered with tears, her eyes red, her blouse torn, I could see a visible red mark on her left arm. I put down my food.
“What happened?” I asked her curiously. “Did you have a bike accident?”

“God will punish Kunle, he will never know peace, it will not be well with him.”

I opened my mouth. “Ahh! I thought he’s the love of your life?”

She hissed out and wiped her face. She stopped to cry. “I was angry at what you said earlier today about Kunle deceiving me. I wanted to prove you wrong.”

“What did you do?”

“I went to his house.”

I looked at her shocked. “You went to a married man’s matrimonial home to do what?”

“I went there to check if his wife still lives with him and I found her there.”

“Are you serious?” I asked her and sat by her side. “Did she see you?”

“Of course,” she replied me. “I confronted her but she laughed at me. Kunle came in from work and instead of him to support me, he beat me up and threatened to arrest me if I ever contact him or come close to his family again. I am finished Chioma! What will I do?”

I rose on my feet. “Really? You want me to advice you?”

She nodded and began to cry again.
“Cynthia focus on your education, don’t always rely on men. Don’t you think it’s best you bury your wayward lifestyle? Your true love will find you at the right time. Just be patient.”

“Is that what you will say to me?”

“What do you think I would have told you? Kunle will never leave his family for you. Marriage is not all about sex like the way you think. Patience, commitment, understanding, friendship also matters. It is also not a bed of roses my dear. I never knew I had a dull friend. It’s impossible for him to marry you except in your dreams.” I turned my back at her to go eat. Cynthia stared at me speechless!

The end.

Have you ever taken your time to ask why am I a man or a woman? Why didn’t I choose my gender? Is it possible that I was somewhere and made the decision before being born? These may sound childish but they hold a vital answer to the bigger picture.
Before now I could not answer these questions, yes at least not until I became a scientist. One may ask are there scientists in Nigeria? Sure there are. You are meeting one right now.
I began my early life as a catholic, following in the footstep of my mother and elder siblings. My father at the time was a traditionalist and was indifferent about Christianity. Soon I would become an altar boy and get very close to reverend fathers. I now was in love with God and the euphoria of heaven. I even wanted to be a priest myself.
In December 2006, I went to a Sunday mass as Catholics call it and I had an epiphany. I heard a priest say something quiet controversial. He said ‘let’s live our lives as best as we can and serve God, so when we die if there’s God well end up with him and if there isn’t God we would have lost nothing’. My eyes widened. I could see the skepticism in the priest. The doubts all over him. Like Donald Trump would say to the reported from fox news ‘I can see the blood coming out all over her, from her eyes and everywhere’.
After the mass, I approached the priest and we had a long conversation. What I realized was the priest was no less an atheist as I was. He was just passive about it and continued playing along. Afterwards I’ve spoken with two more priests who’s names I won’t mention here and three pastors. I also had a private session with an Islamic imam in Ibadan two years ago.
When I began my atheist activism late last year, a few people asked me what I have to gain. Well, I swore an oath to myself to know the truth, teach the truth and preserve the truth. Something I picked up from my almamata. Everyone deserves to know and understand as much as the can. They need to access the right information. Ask questions and be clarified. The very fact that you are not allowed to ask questions during a sermon is rather military-like. We are to accept the teachings and doctrines hoot line and sinker without a single doubt. That is unacceptable to me.
Every week I’ll answer puzzling questions that may have struck your mind at some point but you may just have shoved it under the carpet and said ‘only God knows abeg.’
One more thing, I want to appeal to everyone reading this to be civil and not use an offensive approach towards my views.
Today, I will set out to answer the creation question, the question of if I say there is no God so who made us, how do we exist?
Let’s start from what we know, we’ll gradually work our way to what we don’t know. What we know is an account from the bible where God created the universe, day and night, separation of rivers from land, sea creatures, birds, wild beasts, and then finally Adam first then eve.
The order of creation is no coincidence. Take a look at it, the bible says it happened in seven days. And each day held a unique event. I might have occurred to you that the bible is an old book. The writers who claimed inspiration from God obviously only knew the preexisting technology around them at the time. For instance, you don’t hear of aeroplanes, helicopters, cocaine, smoking, gay marriage, internet, television and the like in Johns prophecy or anywhere in the bible at all. The writers obviously had some crude knowledge of science and knew the simple food chain so they could easily say that’s the order it came. For instance, if a goat eats only grass, its only obvious that the grass existed before the goat, else how would the goat feed? So, the land had to be apart from the seas for land animals and sea animals to exist independently, smaller animals had to come first, and so on, in the same logic the man had to come before the woman. Well that’s rather controversial just like the controversial ‘hen and egg who came first question.’ Anyway, that’s not my point, my point is if the writers knew what we know now that story would not be as oversimplified as it is. It’s noteworthy to add at this point that even the Catholic Church accepts evolution.
Straight to my answer, I’ll start with how do we exist?. How does something exist? Think about it for a second. The first thing that comes to your brain is someone must create it. Good, but that’s not all. One day, I watched my cousins’ play, one of them took onions and chopped it, the other took garri and mixed it with the onions, soon they added salt and pepper, and then sugar and water. Now, they dished it in a plate and left it on the table. By the time my sister returned, she saw it and thought someone made it and tasted it, and liked it and started eating it. Then it struck me. To her, I mean my sister someone intelligently designed the food because it tasted good and she was only present at the prepared state. Same as we. Since we’re only present now, now in the preparation process we are so quick to think that a marvelous God intelligently made us and as such we are good. That is not a truism. There are two ways we can exist, by intelligent design or by chance. Yes, chance. Is it a wonder that voila you are a Nigerian, an Igbo or Yoruba or Hausa, tall, short, dark, in a rich family, or male or female? It’s all chance, it’s a geographical accident. In fact the very fact that you’re a Christian or Muslim my largely be because of your geographical location.
If we were made intelligently then why would we have vestigial organs? In other words, why would we have organs like the appendix, which are useless? Which were useful at some point in our evolutionary tree.
We share so much similarity with animals because we evolved from them. Here I’ll take my time to explain Darwinian evolution. One may ask why we humans are not evolving into some other creature or why are there still apes since we evolved from them. Evolution is a rather slow drift that takes millions, even billions of years. Picture a goat that lives in say Victoria Island and had five kids. Suddenly the goat is moved to Mushin and has to live in a slum. Now, survival of the fittest comes to play and its kids may have to struggle to survive. If two of them dies, the other three would now possess genes for better survival. If for instance, there are wolves in Mushin who are their predators, and wolves can’t see the color white clearly, the three kids if they discover that when the run to an area painted white the wolf leaves, they would likely give birth to white goats. That’s evolution, now where it gets extreme is where say in Mushin all food is kept in high places to avoid the goats from reaching them say on their fences. Now, the goat would try all it can to solve the problem and if it can’t, his kids, a few would like develop either height or longer necks. That’s evolution. Note, that if there are other goats in Victoria island, and in paradise, they would remain normal goats and have no need to evolve. Evolution occurs out of pressure to survive and the selection process is non-random in the sense that it selects better traits for survival. One may ask if black men are more evolved that white men. Well, that I don’t know.
It may be hard to accept that a gorilla was once your cousin.
Next time I’ll go much further to the beginning of the existence of matter.
